Do I need restaurant experience?
While restaurant experience may be helpful, The Chopped Leaf seeks franchisees that have a drive for success and a willingness to learn and follow out operational manuals.
How much does it cost to open a Chopped Leaf?
The projected development cost is between $85,000 and $300,000.
Why is there a wide range of development costs?
The range of development cost is due primarily to the varying site conditions and square footage (can range from a 500 square foot space in a food court to a 1,800 square foot space full size location). Many locations available have previously been used as restaurant sites and have necessary infrastructure in place such as plumbing, electrical service, drop ceilings, etc. This existing infrastructure reduces developement costs.
How do I find a location?
Our site criteria is specific to the ingredients that make up a successful location, if you have a site that you think might work we will review it to see if it matches our requiements. We have over 30 years of leasing and real estate experience in our parent company (IFB) and have extremely knowledgeable contacts in the industry thus are able to acquire sites prior to construction and public release.
What are the fees involved?
The intial franchise fee is $25,000. There is an ongoing 6% royalty fee and 3% advertising fund.
What does the franchise fee include?
Use of The Chopped Leaf trademark name and business model, store design, operational systems and methods, top supplier pricing, and ongoing support and training.
What type of training do I get?
The Chopped Leaf provides an initial 4 week training program for you and your manager to include all aspects of running a Chopped Leaf. You will be provided with manuals and receive extensive training to operate your business. As follows it includes:
- Food Preparation
- ‘Back of the House’ Management
- ‘Front of the House’ Management
- Food Safety
- Customer Services
- Point of Sale Software
- Financial Management
- Marketing and Advertising
In addition, we provide ongoing support through support staff. And of course, we are available at head office to answer any questions that may arise during your busy day.
Does The Chopped Leaf offer multi-unit opportunites?
Yes, The Chopped Leaf offers both single and multi-unit franchises.
Who designs and builds my restaurant?
The Chopped Leaf has a design and layout specifications package which is constantly changing to keep up with new finishes and better economies. We have a great deal of experience in store design and contraction, our in house team coordinates and executes the build out in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
